Red Hill Manor, Delaware – November 03, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
RTZEN, a family-owned wrought iron décor maker operating since 1997, has released guidance on safe overhead mounting for decorative household fixtures in response to a recent federal safety announcement involving ceiling-mounted hardware.
On October 29, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recall number 27-060 covering Harkla children’s sensory swings fitted with specified four-hole ceiling-hook assemblies. The reported hazard involves the hook separating from its mounting plate. The CPSC reported 14 injuries, including two concussions, a broken arm, and bumps and bruises. The agency advised consumers to stop using affected swings until repaired and to obtain the manufacturer’s free repair kit. The recall notice does not identify a drywall-anchor failure as the cause.

The recalled equipment supports the weight of children and experiences loads that differ substantially from those of decorative plant hangers. RTZEN notes that the situations are not equivalent and that its planter hooks are not designed to support a person. The company offered the development as an occasion to explain the broader principles of selecting and installing overhead hanging hardware for everyday items such as hanging planters.
According to RTZEN, a hanging fixture is only as dependable as its complete mounting assembly, not merely the visible hook. The hook, plate or bracket, fasteners, anchors, and supporting surface must all be appropriate for the intended load. Mounting surfaces also differ, with ceiling joists, drywall cavities, and masonry each requiring distinct installation approaches and hardware. For hanging plants, RTZEN emphasizes calculating the wet weight of the entire planter assembly rather than the weight of an empty pot.
These principles align with RTZEN’s published resources, including the RTZEN Plant Hangers Guide, which covers hook selection and mounting for interior and covered outdoor spaces.
“A hanging fixture is only as safe as the full load path behind it,” said Rami Abramson, product quality lead at RTZEN. “The visible hook often gets all the attention, but the plate, the fasteners, the anchor, and the surface itself carry the real responsibility. Homeowners who understand that complete system make better decisions.”
The RTZEN Ceiling Hook Installation Guide walks through identifying ceiling type, calculating wet load, selecting the correct anchor, and testing the installed hook.
Abramson added that routine inspection matters after installation. “Before hanging anything overhead, people should check for loose fasteners, cracked surfaces, visible distortion, or damaged connections, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions,” he said. The RTZEN Hanging Plant Hook Types and Weight Limits Guide details the differences among wall bracket hooks, ceiling hooks, S-hooks, and no-drill adhesive options, along with their respective load ranges.
RTZEN, operated by Iron-Craft, has specialized in hand-forged wrought iron hardware for the home and office since 1997. The family-owned brand preserves traditional blacksmithing techniques to create functional pieces including hooks, holders, hangers, curtain holdbacks, and planter hooks. Its products feature solid wrought iron construction, zinc galvanization, and powder-coated finishes suited to a range of interior styles. The company builds its work around three pillars: craftsmanship, quality and durability, and style.
